A day on Coronet Peak

Yes! We finally got to ski in some good snow! It had been over three years since we skied so we were lucky to get a great day with some nice snow!

Here are a few shots from the mountain:

I can see Queenstown from here!

Morning Dew

We were sitting in the living room this morning, marveling at our sons ability to entertain himself with the curtain, when I noticed the dew still on the grass with the sun illuminating each single droplet.
In some spots you could make out thin lines of spider web going from blade to blade.
Before my son noticed I was gone, I popped out with my macro lense to snap the dew before it evaporated.

Concerning Hobbits

If you drive just 2.5 hour south of Auckland you may find yourself in Hobbiton.

We went on a short road trip for our 5th wedding anniversary. Nana and Poppa got to look after the baby for a day while we enjoyed a damp visit to the set of Hobbiton. The good thing about the wet weather is that our tour group only had 10 people in it :)

The tour is about 2 hours long and worth doing, especially if you are a fan of Tolkien's tales.
We even got to drink a beer in the Green Dragon!

Early to rise

This morning we woke, as per usual, at first light.

The cat needed to go out to pee and the baby wanted feeding.

... Instead of heading back to bed after our duties had been met, we decided to make the most of the early wake-up and went for a wander down Orewa Beach while the sun rose.

Abandoned on the Hill

My first photo for the New Year.

I drive past this old "barn" everyday as it sits, lonely and buffeted by winds on the top of the hill.

I decided I needed to capture it before it got blown away by a summer cyclone.
