Waiotapu - Geothermal area

While down south on our long weekend out of Auckland we made our way to Wai-O-Tapu to check out some geothermal activity!

The water was green, yellow and orange.

The rocks were all volcanic like and suplhur stained and in many places were steaming.

This is the shallow area leading to the Primrose Terraces and surrounding the Champagne pool

If you go in Winter / Spring be prepared to get wet. Even after it stops raining the trees drip plenty of water on your head.

Dont fall in. In some places the path was steaming and warm to the touch.

Always Rangitoto

I'm against renaming landmarks that have been cemented into the culture and everyday lives of people.

Apart from the waste of taxpayer dollars that this will lead to, I think it is ludicrous to go about renaming famous landmarks!

Last weekend we took a couple of days off work and travelled down south to do some skiing.

On the way we stopped at Paradise Valley Springs where we got to see the lions get fed and also pat their kids.

6 month old Aleekah was being naughty and trying to eat kids, so she was in time out:

We got to pat her sister Ayla, who was much better behaved:

If you're down Rotorua way its totally worth a visit!
You also get to meet these critters:

Queenstown at night

This is from the top of the Gondola above Queenstown.

While my wife was enjoying a wine and the warm fire I braved the cold night air to take a few shots of the lights of the town below.
