Chesh in a pot

Chesh was a lucky little kitty today!

He got to go outside in the sun. Chesh likes it outside in the sun!

Chesh found lots of new smells and hidey holes in the bushes.

Then Chesh found a pot to hide in, can you see Chesh?

L.A. From the Getty Museum

The L.A. Skyline from above the city at the Getty Museum.

Its an amazing Museum with some outstanding views of the city. We were there in January with some local friends. It was a great sunny day, perfect for capturing the nice smoggy layer over the city. Its actually quite pretty despite being really bad for the environment...

The garden you see is really nice to wander around and relax or sit down in the shade and appreciate the view. There is a neat little stream that wends its way down a path to the big water feature maze thing you can see above.

This is one of the restaurants at the Museum (the cheaper one). Our friends were not all that impressed by the prices, but being tourists we thought they were reasonable. Moral of the story... take a picnic yourself and enjoy the landscaped garden.

As you enter the main level this water feature greets you, set amongst a refreshing surround of architecture and art.

Smokey Clouds and a tree

Sunday afternoon saw some pretty epic thunder clouds pass over this Land of the Long White Cloud.
I made my way up to the Pinehill reservoir to try and capture some of the action up there in the clouds.

I my way home from getting some nice panoramic's of Rangitoto I saw the sun punching through the clouds. I stopped up off Gannet Point in Browns Bay and framed the fiery orb with the conveniently placed Pine.

Rangitoto from the Pinehill Reservoir

Yesterday afternoon while the rain was on hold I shot up to the reservoir at Pinehill. I had hoped the view would be more of Browns Bay and the North Shore beaches. But Rangitoto is always such a good subject so it wasn't a complete loss. Damn trees blocking my view :(

I was lucky that the moon and a rainbow were passing by too.

This is 5 portrait images stitched together.

The Cottage Gate

Today I was home sick with a nasty head cold / sore throat. I read pretty much the entire Stuck in customs book by Trey Ratcliff. I wasn't up to going out to take new photos so found some old brackets of this gate. I did an HDR of it about a year ago... but it was lacking something. So I cropped it so it is no longer slanted and used the awesome shadowmapping tutorial from Scott Wyden's blog written by guest blogger

Paris 2006 Skyline

My Wife and I visited Paris in 2006. We stayed in Mont Marte, about a 10-15 minute walk from the Sacré Cœur. We wandered all over the city, I took this from the top of... well I forget now but it was tall.

Heres an artsy version:
