Butterfly

Here's one of the many butterflies from the Denver Butterfly Pavilion.

It was really neat place to visist! Its so humid in there it felt like home. They also have some sweet tarantulas... you can even hold one. No we didn't hold any. I stayed about a metre away and Rachel kept about a metre behind me.

A bit pear shaped

Since this post is rather pear shaped I would like to say that we are thinking of everyone in Christchurch and hope that despite everything most people can survive and move on. Its a horrible situation and devastating in so many ways!!!  http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10708086
This post is dedicated to all those lost and all those who have lost something or someone in this disater.

These pears grow just a few metres from our house down the right of way. The pears or dropping off the tree like paratroopers and making their way down the driveway to freedom... and inevitable doom.

Bee Nice to that flower!

Those are the popular fruit.

A lovely bunch of coco... I mean pears

Fruitracism (fruit ostracism)

In the old days pears had to keep a respectable distance before getting romantically involved.

Breckenridge from on high

Today we drove up the road a bit behind the Breck village up the hill past a big Spa place that Rach partied at once when she worked here. This is 5 images stitched together

Sunset at Breckenridge (redo)

I re-processed this image with the techniques from Scott Wydens blog: http://scottwyden.com/hdr-photography-tip-shadowmapping/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+scottwyden+(Scott+Wyden+Imagery)

Rach and I went wandering yesterday afternoon to find a good place to take a shot of the sun setting over Breck. It seems to set about 5pm every night, almost like clockwork!

Just as our toes were starting to protest about standing in the snow for so long while we waited for the sun to dip below the mountain, I saw this horse and cart emerge around the corner I pounced on my remote and got this shot.

Once the shutter released I quickly packed up my tripod and camera and we headed off to D'vine Wine for some tastings. Great evening!!!

Pizza Dough!

Yesterday we visited Copper Mountain. Its only about half an hour away from Breckenridge. We had a slice of pizza each at Pizza Carlo. They do some crazy cool stuff with the dough! This guy was happy to perform his skills in front of my camera.

Spirits of the Aurora

This is one of the award winning snow sculptures titled Spirits of the Aurora at Breckenridges Snow Scuplting Competition.
I took 3 landscape images and stitched them together to get better quality.

Todays Skiing at Arapahoe Basin

We woke up this morning and the sun was shining and the snow was... melting :( So we decided to drive over to Arapahoe Basin. Its not far at all from Breckenridge and being higher up in the mountains we expected better snow. The snow was much nicer because it wasn't as icey. The runs are a bit different too, shorter but steeper and more wide open due to less trees at that altitude.

You can actually see Breck from the top of The back bowl at Arapahoe.

Driving up the Loveland Pass over the Continental Divide I braved the freezing wind and snow to take a few pics with my iPhone4. Then I stitched them together with PS.
